<p>The structure has a side rail (10) mounted on a part of its length below a floor pan of a motor vehicle body. The side rail absorbs energy provided by a frontal impact. The side rail has left and right parts (12, 14) that are made of sheet metal and extend along the length of the side rail, where the side rail has three branches one of which is branched at the level of a junction zone of the branches. The parts are fixed along a longitudinal axis on a part of the length of the branches. Plane sides of two of the branches are continuous for forming a free lower edge (40). An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a side rail for a front structure of a motor vehicle.</p> |
