A dryer and a method for controlling of the same is provided to prevent deterioration of dry effect and to dry laundry completely by controlling a driving motor for varying rotation speed of a dry drum in accordance with load of laundry. A method for controlling a dryer comprises the steps: inputting a dry course and starting a dry course(S100); sensing load of laundry by using an electrode sensor after starting the dry course(S300); and varying rotation speed of a driving motor according to the sensed load(S400,S600). The rotation speed of the driving motor is increased to allow rotation speed of a dry drum to reach to set rotation speed, if sensed load is a great amount of load. The rotation speed of the driving motor is decreased to allow rotation speed of a dry drum to reach to set rotation speed, if sensed load is a small amount of load. The dryer is composed of the dry drum, a driving unit, the electrode sensor, and a control unit.
