PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device and method for a vehicle for offering information to the vehicle side via a local communication means such as a DSRC with more proper timing. SOLUTION: This navigation device receives information from an information transmission device Tx, and based on the received information, performs an information service. By receipt of the information once, the navigation device stores an information receipt position P1 or its vicinity position on a map database and the received content to start the information service based on the stored information content when it determines that the vehicle position reaches a predetermined distance before the information receipt position P1 in the next vehicle operation.
