PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic optical fiber cord having small diameter used for an optical waveguide or the like, which is made by coating the outside of a plastic optical fiber having a small diameter with polyamide resin having a high melting temperature, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The plastic optical fiber cord is obtained by forming a coating layer on an optical fiber composed of a core and a clad. The plastic optical fiber cord is characterized in that the diameter of the plastic optical fiber is 500μm or smaller and the coating layer is formed of at least two layers of polyamide resin composed of the same polymer composition.
