A method and a system for generating a summary window in grid are provided to display information, which is placed in same row or same column in grid, through one window. A method and a system for generating summary window in grid comprises a summary command sensing unit(401), an information extraction unit(402), and a summary window generating unit(403). The summary command sensing unit discriminates if a first cell on the grid is selected by the user and any summary command requiring the extraction of the information of the cells in the same row or column with the first cell is inputted by the user. The information extraction unit is capable of extracting necessary information from the information of the cells if a summary command is inputted by the summary command sensing unit. The summary window generating unit utilizes the information extracted by the information extraction unit for generating a summary window which contains titles and contents of each cell on the same row and column of the first cell, and outputting it on the screen. When a second cell is selected by the user on the grid with the generated summary window, the information of cells in the same row or column with the second cell will be outputted in a single summary window.
