<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-purity carbon electrode for arc melting with which an arc can be formed stably during arc discharging and in which a local lack of an electrode does not occur and with which a quartz glass melting pot with an excellent performance, on a surface of which a black foreign substance nor a concave part are not formed, can be manufactured, and provide its usage. <P>SOLUTION: The carbon electrode is used for a heat melting of quartz powder by an arc discharging, and a density of the carbon electrode is 1.60g/cm<SP>3</SP>to 1.80g/cm<SP>3</SP>and the carbon electrode is composed of high purity carbon particles of a particle diameter 0.05mm or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
