PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backup system for a mail server capable of continuing a service in an equal state between an active system and a remote backup environment by using software to copy mail data including mail identification information and mail update information in the unit of mail. SOLUTION: An operation system server 1 generates a copy mail data file including a mail main body, and information associated with mail such as the mail identification information and the mail update information in the unit of mail in an SMTP server process 11, and transmits the file to a backup server 2 in a mirror transmission process 13.
