<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device and a light emitting module capable of inhibiting deterioration by light emitted from a light emitting element even if the light emitting element with a short wavelength of emitted light is used, so that the deterioration in light emission brightness is hard to occur after a long-term use. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device X includes the light emitting element 1 consisting of a first conductivity type layer 11, a light emitting layer 12 and a second conductivity type layer 13 formed on a substrate 10 and an optical members 2 for tightly covering at least part of a region of the element 1 where the light is emitted. The optical member 2 is formed of glass.
