<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image evaluation apparatus and an image evaluation method capable of executing image evaluation suited to an image to be actually formed. <P>SOLUTION: A storage means previously stores evaluation information about at least any one of streaks and spots generated on a plurality of reference patterns formed on a recording medium 12. An image 200 represented by image data to be an image quality evaluation target is divided into a predetermined image constituents 202, 204.
