PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power loss in a power supply for control which outputs a plurality of DC control voltages, a lighting device of a discharge lamp using that power supply for control, and an illuminator equipped with the lighting device of a discharge lamp. SOLUTION: The power supply for control comprises a regulator 6 for stepping down a DC voltage from a DC power supply 1, an integrated circuit 15 as a first control means operating with a first control voltage, an integrated circuit 8 as a second control means operating with a voltage lower than the first control voltage, a regulator 6 for stepping down a DC power supply voltage to output a DC voltage and further outputting a DC voltage lower than that DC voltage while switching, a voltage step down means consisting of constant voltage diodes 10, 12 and an FET 11, a first control voltage supply means consisting of a rectification diode 13 and a second smoothing capacitor 14 which output the output voltage from the voltage step down means as the power supply of the integrated circuit 15, and a second control voltage supply means consisting of a three terminal regulator 7 for stepping down the output voltage from the voltage step down means and outputting a second control voltage lower than the first control voltage as the power supply of the integrated circuit 8.
