摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a glass spacer for an electron beam excitation display capable of improving similarity of cross-sectional shape of a matrix glass and a glass spacer 4, when the glass spacer 4 is manufactured by heating and drawing the matrix glass. SOLUTION: The flat type electron beam excitation display has an airtight atmospheric pressure resistant structure in which a front plate 1 and a back plate 2 are airtightly jointed through a support frame 3, and a plurality of glass spacers 4 of cross-sectional shape in which a plurality of irregular grooves are formed on the side face are sometimes inserted between the front plate 1 and the back plate 2 as an atmospheric pressure support member. In this device, the glass spacer 4 for electron beam excitation display of the above cross-sectional shape is obtained by preparing a matrix glass in which a plurality of irregular grooves extending in drawing direction are formed on the side face and of which cross-sectional shape is similar shape as that of the glass spacer 4, and by heating and drawing the matrix glass so that its viscosity may become 10<SP>5</SP>-10<SP>9</SP>poise.
