PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent light emitting display device in which: manufacturing cost and part unit prices are reduced by adopting an EL plate as a display section of an integrated composite display instrument (combination meter); and the structure is simplified. SOLUTION: The electroluminescent display device 10 includes: a character electrode 22A formed by printing in a shape that corresponds to a desired letter, number, sign, pattern, scale or the like formed on a surface of a substrate 21 so as to display measurement results depending on measured value obtained from a measuring device; an insulating layer 25 that covers the character electrode; a light emitting layer 26 that covers the insulating layer 25; and the EL plate 20 on which a plurality of character light emitting sections 21A having a transparent electrode 27 covering the light emitting layer 26. The character electrode 22A is formed on the substrate 21 so that the character light emitting sections 21A emit lights in a desired shape. Moreover, the character electrode 22A is placed in a predetermined position on the substrate 21. Each of the character electrodes 22A in the character light emitting section 21A is connected to individual wirings, which enables the character light emitting section 21A to be individually turned on/off.
