PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor which hardly increases in internal resistance. SOLUTION: The electric double layer capacitor is equipped with an electric double layer capacitor device 2 which is composed of a positive electrode 2a, a negative electrode 2b and a separator 2c sandwiched in-between and arranged inside a vessel 1 composed of a lid 1a and a U-shaped casing 1b. A first conductive layer 3, which is connected to a connection terminal 8, and an insulating layer 4 provided with an opening 4a penetrating through the first conductive layer 3 are formed on the inner bottom of the casing 1b, and the opening 4a is filled up with a second conductive layer 5. A third conductive layer 6 formed of a laminate composed of a first aluminum layer 6a and a second carbon layer 6b is formed on the insulating layer 4 and the second conductive layer 5 and is connected to the positive electrode 2a through a conductive adhesive agent 7. A fourth conductive layer 10 is connected to the negative electrode 2b through a conductive adhesive agent 9 and is also connected to a connection terminal 11. An electrolytic solution is poured into the vessel 1, and the casing 1b and the lid 1a are sealed up by welding. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
