<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure which constitutes a backlight unit by using a hot cathode fluorescent lamp and can more enhance luminance efficiency as the unit. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit 5 is a directly under type irradiating a liquid crystal panel from its directly under part and is provided with an e.g. six hot cathode fluorescent lamps 7 to be light sources, a casing 9 housing the hot cathode fluorescent lamps 7, a lighting circuit lighting the hot cathode fluorescent lamps 7 and optical sheets 13 provided on the front surface of the casing 9. When the backlight unit 5 is viewed from the optical sheets 13 side, the hot cathode fluorescent lamps 7 is held by a part corresponding to a rear side of a peripheral region (an outer side of a line segment C in Fig.) of the optical sheets 13 and a rear surface side part of the casing 9 to be a part corresponding to a central region (inner side of a line segment D in Fig.) of the hot cathode fluorescent lamps 7 comes in contact with the casing 9 via a heat conductive member 35. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
