<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine in which heat damage to a selective reduction type NOx catalyst is avoided. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device comprises a casing 22 into which exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine 8 is introduced, a particulate filter 34 for arresting particulates in the exhaust gases and a selective reduction type NOx catalyst 48 disposed on the downstream side of the filter and removing NOx in the exhaust gases by adding a reducer which are contained in the casing, a passage 36 formed in the casing, connecting the filter to the NOx catalyst, and returning the flow of the exhaust gases from the filter back to the NOx catalyst, and cooling means 37, 40, 41, 43, 44, 46 for cooling the exhaust gases in the passage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
