PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a device utilizing a conventional magnetic microstylus has fabrication difficulties and low sensitivity. SOLUTION: This recording device is provided with a recording support (30) supporting a magnetic film; a microstylus (12) composed of a base part (80) made of nonmagnetic material and a magnetoresistive multilayer (46) with which the base part is covered; a relative moving means (14) of the microstylus (12) and the support (30); a reading means (20) which can measure the resistance variation of the magnetoresistive layer; a writing means (20) which changes a magnetization direction by circulating current into a magnetic film (35) through the magnetoresistive multilayer (46).
