PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing display data for a multi-primary color display device used for transformation from three primary color expression to multi-primary color expression. SOLUTION: Video data is input for each pixel of an image obtained by imaging or any drawing method, and an approximate spectrum is obtained from the image data and an illumination data or a virtual illumination data; by targeting this approximate spectrum to bring a temporary spectrum reproduced using the primary colors used in the multi-primary color display device close to this approximate spectrum, each intensity of the multi-primary colors constituting the temporary spectrum is obtained; or the temporary spectrum brought close thereto is obtained according to a transformation or a transformation procedure for transforming from the prepared approximate spectrum into each intensity of the multi-primary colors. and the temporary spectrum is displayed on the multi-primary color display device according to each intensity of the obtained multi-primary colors.
