PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved assembly, system and method for providing functional or therapeutic neuromuscular stimulation by prosthesis. SOLUTION: This neuromuscular stimulation assembly includes: at least one electrode sized and constructed to be embedded in a nerves tissue region or muscles tissue region as a target; a percutaneous conductor electrically coupled to the electrode and projecting through the outer skin surface; a circuit sized to be mounted on the outer skin surface and holding a carrier to generate a carrier stimulus pulse on a substrate; and an electrode connecting element, which is an electrode connecting element holding the carrier electrically coupled to the circuit on the substrate, electrically engages at least a portion of an exposed area of the conductor to electrically couple the electrode to the circuit, and is sized and constructed to percutaneously apply stimulation pulses to the tissue region.
