A synthetic resin socket plug for receiving a screw 8, e.g. for securing corrugated asbestos 6 to a soft fibre board 9, has a head 2 at its closed end. The screw may be received in a thread formed in longitudinal ribs of tapered section in the plug socket, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown), or it may cut a thread in the ribs. Two opposed external ribs 4 of tapered section also taper away from the head 2.
