PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device provided with a communication function to communicate with an outside, in which a printed circuit board can be made comparatively short, and a malfunction of a communication signal treatment part due to noises generated in an inverter part is hard to occur. SOLUTION: The discharging lamp lighting device DOC is composed of a lighting circuit part OC which is connected with and installed on a ground line pattern P1 of a printed circuit board PCB, contains an inverter and lights up the discharging lamp DL, and a communication signal treatment part MC to which a power source is supplied from a parent unit placed outside. There is also provided a communication circuit part CC which is positioned between the outside and the lighting circuit part OC and controls the lighting circuit part OC and is mounted on the printed circuit board PCB common with the lighting circuit part OC in a state that the ground line pattern P1 to which the lighting circuit part DC is connected is positioned between the communication signal treatment part MC and the light circuit part OC.
