PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a storage system capable of markedly improving the operation efficiency of storage regions. SOLUTION: The storage system having the storage regions for storing data transmitted from a host computer 2, and a virtual logical volume 33 to which the storage regions are dynamically allocated and provided to the host computer 2, comprises a pool region preparing section for preparing a plurality of pool regions composed of the storage regions; a setting section for setting the allocation sizes of the storage regions in allocating the storage regions in the pool regions to the virtual logical volume 33, for every one of the plurality of pool regions prepared by the pool region preparing section; a selecting section for selecting one of the pool regions set by the setting section according to the data size of the data when the data to be stored in the storage region is transmitted from the host computer 2; and an allocating section for allocating the storage region of the pool region selected by the selecting part, to the virtual logical volume 33.
