<p>To provide a water-absorbable gel which can be prepared by using a water-absorbable resin comprising an acrylamide-acrylate copolymer without deteriorating the water-absorbability or losing transparency and which can contain even an oily functional component such as an aromatic component or a deodorant component. The water-absorbable gel can be prepared by using at least one surfactant selected from a specific polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether, a specific polyoxyethyelne hydrogenated castor oil ether, a specific alkyl dimethyl amine oxide and a specific palm oil fatty acid amide propyl betaine together with a water-absorbable resin comprising an acrylamide-acrylate copolymer.</p>
