PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaporator, improving drain performance for condensed water from a lower header tank. SOLUTION: The lower header tank of the evaporator includes: a tank forming member: and a pipe connecting plate 31 having a top covering part 35 for covering the top face of the tank forming member and a side covering part 36 for covering both front and back sides of the tank forming member. A first drain groove 50 extending in the lateral direction is formed between heat exchange pipe groups 4A adjacent to each other in the longitudinal direction of the outer face of the top covering part 35. A plurality of drain holes 47 for communicating the groove bottom of the first drain groove 50 with the lower surface of the tank forming member are formed in the pipe connecting plate 31 and the tank forming member. A second drain groove 51 extending in the longitudinal direction is formed to intersect the first drain groove 50 is formed between the heat exchange pipes 4 adjacent to each other in the lateral direction of the outer face of the top covering part 35. The outer face of the front side covering part 36 is provided with a third drain groove 52 communicating with the second drain groove 51 and extending in the vertical direction.
