PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake control device for an internal combustion engine capable of improving response of air quantity control in a control limit area where target air quantity can not be obtained by only control of a variable valve train. SOLUTION: In the intake control device provided with the variable valve train 14A capable of changing valve characteristics of an intake valve 12 changing intake air quantity to a cylinder 2, a throttle valve 16 arranged in an intake air passage 10 and capable of controlling opening, and ECU 20 as an air quantity control device controlling the variable valve train 14A to operate the intake valve 12 with valve characteristics according to target air quantity and controlling opening of a throttle valve 16 in the control limit area where intake air quantity can not be reduced to the target air quantity by only control of the variable valve train 14A, when demand load to the internal combustion engine 1 increases under a condition where the target air quantity is established in the control limit area, the variable valve train 14A is controlled to temporally increase operating angle of the intake valve 12 with synchronizing with control of opening of the throttle valve 16.
