PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slag removal device with which in the case of removing the slag floated up on molten metal from a molten metal vessel of a refining furnace or ladle, etc., holding the molten metal, such as molten iron, molten steel, the greater part of slag can be removed several times in operations, with a simple constitution, even in the case of the molten metal vessel having deep depth, such as a converter. SOLUTION: In the slag removal device 1, the slag 12 existing on the surface of the molten metal 11 held in the molten metal vessel 8, is scraped out from a slag-exhausting hole 9 with a scraping plate 4 fit to the tip end part of a supporting arm 3 so as to be reciprocatively shiftable in the horizontal direction, wherein the scraping plate is composed of a metal plate which is elastically deformable and even in the case of contacting with the slag-exhausting hole, this metal plate can pass through while being elastically deformed.
