A method for fitting an airbag system to a vehicle seat has the airbag module fitted to a trim moulding (54) which is clipped to the seat frame (2) and which has the folded airbag (51) and the gas generator module (5) on opposite sides of the frame. The expanding airbag pushes through the gap (6) between the trim moulding and the seat frame eliminating the need for a rupturing seam.
