PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a homogeneous type liquid crystal display module in which a high response speed and white display of expected high quality are achieved without inviting cost increase due to increase in manufacturing manhour. SOLUTION: A side light type surface-emitting illumination device 13 which is installed as a backlight of the homogeneous type liquid crystal display panel is constituted so that two LEDs 15 are installed oppositely in contact with a light incidence end surface 141 of a light guide plate 14. Each of these LEDs 15 is provided with red, green and blue LED chips 15r, 15g, 15b for emitting respective red, green and blue wavelength lights. Respective LED chips 15r, 15g, 15b are controlled to be driven through an LED driver circuit 221 by a control operation part 222 in an LED drive control circuit on the basis of the light emission intensity ratio data of emitted lights from respective LED chips 15r, 15g, 15b, which are previously written in a memory 223 to obtain predetermined white display.
