PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate the opening/closing of a cap such as a fuel lid of an automobile which is difficult to be grasped by a robot and to simplify a system structure by putting a means for opening and closing each cap together. SOLUTION: A robot 10 for opening and closing the cap as the cap opening/closing device is provided in which an attraction opening and closing means 24 having an attraction means 30 for attracting the fuel lid 22 and a non-contact detecting means 32 for detecting the presence/absence of the fuel lid 22, and an engaging opening/closing means 28 having a hand 52 for engaging an engaging tool 50 attached to a tail gate 26 and an engagement detecting means 54 for detecting the presence/absence of the tail gate 26 are supported by a robot arm 12.
