PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and inexpensive wiring board class specifying method, with which a wiring board is identified directly from an array of elements (components) mounted and arranged on the wiring board, so that dedicated display spaces are not required for displaying the class of the wiring board. SOLUTION: On a principal surface 2 (reference face) of a wiring board 1, a class specification region 3 is formed while including four digits of space for disposing elements (R, C and the like), constituting circuit mount components. In the class specification region 3, the elements (components) of the respective digits are laid out so that the presence/absence thereof corresponds as information bits 31, 32, 33, 34 for identification. Thus, by having the presence/absence of the element (component) for each digit on the principal surface 2 watched as visual information or read by an imaging apparatus, an identifying apparatus or the like, the class of the wiring board 1 can be identified and specified.
