PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head and a magnetic recording device capable of making suppression of pole erase compatible with securing recording magnetic field strength. SOLUTION: The magnetic head 60 comprises: a 1st shield 43 made of a 1st soft magnetic material; a 2nd shield 45 made of a 2nd soft magnetic material of which Curie temperature is lower than that of the 1st soft magnetic material; a coil 50 for magnetizing a main magnetic pole 39; an insulating film 52 covering the coil 50; and a return yoke 56 formed on a 1st shield 43, a 2nd shield 45, and a return yoke 56 formed on the 1st shield 43, the 2nd shield 45, and the insulating film 52, and the temperature T<SB>A</SB>at which the absolute inclination value of the saturation magnetization - temperature characteristic curve of the 1st soft magnetic material takes the maximum is higher than the highest temperature T<SB>max</SB>to which the 1st and 2nd shields 43, 45 are heated up in practical use, and the temperature T<SB>B</SB>at which the absolute inclination value of the saturation magnetization - temperature characteristic curve of the 2nd soft magnetic material takes the maximum is lower than the above highest temperature T<SB>max</SB>.
