PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod capable of relaxing the stress concentration to the second rod pipe to prevent the break of the second rod pipe. SOLUTION: The fishing rod is constituted by coaxially joining the first rod pipe 2 with the second rod pipe 3 having a diameter smaller than that of the first rod pipe 2. The first rod pipe 2 has the terminal edge 10 providing the opening 7 to which the second rod pipe 3 is inserted so as to be detachable, and an elastic member 13 made of a material having an elasticity softer than the first and second rod pipes 2 and 3 is installed in the inner periphery 2a of the first rod pipe 2 continued from the terminal edge 10. The elastic member 13 lies between the first rod pipe 2 and the second rod pipe 3 so that at least the terminal edge 10 of the first rod pipe 2 may be covered when the first rod pipe 2 and the second rod pipe 3 are joined.
