PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool which exerts a long service life even in high-speed and intermittent cutting. SOLUTION: The cutting tool exerting high plastic deformation resistance, is formed of a cemented carbide 1 comprised of a tungsten carbide phase 2, a B1 type solid solution phase 4, and a binding phase 3. The tungsten carbide phase 1 contains cobalt of 5.0 to 15.0 mass%, niobium of 0.8 to 4.5 mass% in terms of carbide, at least one of carbide (excluding tungsten carbide), nitride, and carbonitride of at least one selected from the group consisting of group IV, V, VI metals excluding niobium, of 0.5 to 16.0 mass%, oxygen of 0.01 to 0.08 mass%, and the rest being tungsten carbide and inevitable impurities. The B1 type solid solution phase 4 is represented by M(CNO) or M(CO) (where M is at least one selected from group IV, V, VI metals including niobium as an essential metal), and contains oxygen of 1 to 4 atomic%. The binding phase 3 contains cobalt as an essential element and functions to combine the tungsten carbide phase and the B1 type solid solution phase together. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
