A method of controlling a fan for discharging smoke is provided to create comfortable indoor climate by sensing a predetermined amount of smoke and discharging it to the outside automatically, and to reduce power consumption by automatically deactivating a fan after discharging the smoke. A method of controlling a fan for discharging smoke comprises the steps of: sensing light intensity of a lamp with a smoke sensor(S501); operating a fan for a predetermined time set in a timer and then turning off the fan, if the light intensity is lower than a predetermined level(S503,504,505); and re-operating the fan if light intensity lower than the predetermined level is sensed again by the smoke sensor(S506).
