There is disclosed a method for producing a component 10 of two different plastics materials or grades of plastics material. The method comprises (1) loading respective cavities 14,18 of first and second moulding tools 12,16 with first and second mouldable materials, of which one is weldable with the other, (2) locating, between the cavities 14,18, a barrier member 20, which allows one of the materials, when molten, to soak therethrough, and (3) performing a rotational moulding operation to form different material parts of the component 10 in respective cavities 14, 18 with one of the materials seeping through the barrier member 20 to weld with the other. The barrier material may be a gauze, a polyester which may be of screen printing grade or nylon. The material may include a plurality of layers, a wire mesh, which may be of steel (eg. stainless steel). |
