A flat display apparatus and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve strength of a flat display panel by using a protective layer formed of a resin hardened with the heat or the ultraviolet ray. A flat display apparatus includes a flat display panel(10) and a protective layer(20). The protective layer is formed with a resin formed directly on one side of the flat display panel. The thickness of the protective layer is 0.1 to 10mm. An optical filter is positioned between the protective layer and one side of the flat display panel. The protective layer has a transmittance of 80 percent and more in a visible light zone. The resin is formed of at least one of acrylate, epoxy, urethane, silicon, and silicate. The protective layer is formed by coating directly a predetermined material on one side of the flat display panel.
