BACKLIGHT UNIT USING HCFL

A back light unit using an HCFL(Hot Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) is provided to enhance competitive power and facilitate replacement and coupling of a back light unit by making a display device small and lightweight and forming a socket detachably from an HCFL. An HCFL(100) includes a glass tube(110) and an end cap(120). Electrodes are provided at both ends of the glass tube and sealed, and lead cables(111) are extended to the outside. The end cap includes a cylindrical body including one side having an opening(131) and the other side plugged by a plug wall(132). Cut portions(133) are formed on opposite sides of a circumferential surface. The opening is connected to an end of the glass tube. The end cap includes a connecting plate which is connected to the lead cables exposed at both sides of the circumferential surface through the cut portion. A socket(200) includes a receiving unit(211) and a terminal plate(220). The receiving unit receives the end cap of the HCFL. The terminal plate is disposed at a side surface of the receiving unit to contact the connecting plate.
