A semi-conductor device has an electrode lead comprising a metal ribbon having a foraminate area at the position where it is thermocompression bonded to a metallic contact of the device but being unapertured over the major portion of its length. A varactor diode comprises a wafer of semiconductor material having a mesa containing the junction and topped with a gold-plated contact. The lead comprises a gold ribbon having a pattern of square apertures, produced by photo-etching or photo-forming, at a central area which is then thermocompression bonded to the gold contact. The two ends of the lead are brought together and connected to a terminal of a sealed casing for the device.</p> |
