A system and a method for monitoring and controlling a trough during continuous rolling are provided to check whether a trough is closed or not by checking time after close operation of the trough. A method for monitoring and controlling a trough during continuous rolling includes the steps of: holding rolled products by closing the trough and dropping the rolled product by opening the trough; counting time for predetermined time after closing the trough; turning on a sensor if the trough is closed for a predetermined time, and if the trough is not closed, alarm and message output commands are output to an alarm and message output unit; and outputting an alarm and a message by receiving the alarm and message output commands.
