A method for providing location information and sensing data using reference point and a system thereof are provided to provide systemically position-based information while maintaining common use between contents and services by improving compatibility between communication networks and providing position-based services using geographical codes generated by reference point, thereby providing integrated position-based service and reducing errors of position information. A method for providing location information and sensing data using reference point comprises the following steps of: generating a geographical code in an object node of a position-based service by reference point in which position information is stored(220); transmitting the geographical code and sensing data of the node and detecting sensing data from the node(230); providing services based on positions by the geographical code and sensing data in an application system(240).
