A method for updating a program of a set-top box is provided to decrease the data transmission rate and the usage of a storage unit by individually managing software of the set-top box so as to enable partial installation and update of the program according to modules. An information table about a module maintained by a module management server is requested and received by a set-top box(412). The received module information table is compared with information about a module maintained by the set-top box(413). If the module maintained by the module management server is new as the compared result, update data are requested to and received from the module management server. The module of the set-top box is updated using the received update data(426). |
