A hollow type false twisted polyester yarn and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to produce a false twisted yarn having a hollowness of more than 10% even after a false twisting process, thereby improving the warmth and the absorption and dry properties of false twisted yarn. A polyester multifilament full drawn yarn having a hollowness of more than 25% is supplied to a heating plate(6) of 160-190°C, which is positioned within a false twister, at a overfeed rate of 3-10 %. The polyester multifilament full drawn yarn is passed through the heating plate at a yarn speed of 200-600 m/min, thereby giving a twist to a false twisting unit(7). The false twisting unit is one selected from a pin type, a disc type, and a belt type.
