<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To damp the opening movement of a valve needle of a fuel injector to be used in an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: This damping arrangement has the valve needle engageable with a valve needle seat for controlling fuel injection via an injector outlet, and an actuator arranging part arranged so as to control fuel pressure in a control chamber. A surface associated with the valve needle is exposed to the fuel pressure in the control chamber so that a fuel pressure variation in the control chamber controls the movement of the valve needle to the valve needle seat. A damping means having a damper chamber damps the opening movement of the valve needle. The damping means is arranged so that a fuel pressure variation in the damper chamber damps the opening movement of a valve member.
