<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce facility expenses or communication expenses by dispensing with a telephone or public network communication control part provided for each automatic transaction device. <P>SOLUTION: When an operation abnormality is detected in transaction such as cash payment which is performed in response to a customer's operation in an automatic transaction device 1 set in a shop such as a business branch, failure information and reference destination information which are encoded and displayed in the transaction device 1 are read by a portable terminal 12.
