PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile phone which, when performing character entry, can display a candidate phrase with higher effectiveness. SOLUTION: A screen of an internal display means 33 of the mobile phone is divided into an input region 33a, a reference data display region 33b, and a candidate phrase display region 33c, and the character entry can be attained by selecting any of a plurality of candidate phrases displayed on the candidate phrase display region 33c. All or a part of past reception mail or transmission mail letters which a user desires to use as reference for text generation are displayed on the reference data display region 33b. The candidate phrase included in reference data of the reference data display region 33b is displayed on the candidate phrase display region 33c as a candidate phrase with the highest priority.
