PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce costs, increased due to the adoption of the following structure, to the utmost, while adopting the structure in which two dwelling units adjacent to each other are isolated from each other by two independent side walls facing each other with a space part in between. SOLUTION: A foundation is constructed for each of the two dwelling units provided on the boundary where the two dwelling units constituting a single residential building adjoin each other; at least columns 122 for four corners of each of the two dwelling units are installed on the foundation in such a manner that the columns 122 in positions to make the two dwelling units adjoin each other face each other at a predetermined interval; the side walls for closing a section between the columns of each of the two dwelling units are installed on the foundation in such a manner that the side walls in positions to make the two dwelling units adjoin each other face each other with a predetermined space part in between; and the mutually opposed columns 122 of the two dwelling units adjacent to each other are connected together by means of a reinforcing member 125 which is fitted to the column 122 via protrusions/recesses so as to close the space part.
