A PROCESS FOR RECYCLING NI AND CO FROM NICKEL OXIDE ORE OR NICKEL SILICATE ORE

A process for recycling Ni and Co from nickel oxide ore or nickel silicate ore, comprises the following steps: grinding nickel oxide or nickel silicate raw ore so that 80-90wt% of the ore has a grain size of -200 mesh; adding coke powder 5-15%, chlorating agent 10-30% and auxiliary 0.1-1.0% based on the weight of the raw ore; pelletizing to obtain pellets with a grain size of 5-15 mm; drying; calcining the dried pellets in a rotary kiln for segregation for 1-2 hours, in which the temperature of high temperature zone of the kiln is controlled at 1000-1300 °C, the exit temperature of the kiln is 400-600 °C, rotation rate is 0.75-2 revolution per minute; then separating the product which has been water-quenched in a magnetic separator with a magnetic field intensity of 1500-3000G, and eventually obtaining a Ni-Co concentrate mixture in which nickel grade is 5-15%, recovery of Ni is 80-85%, cobalt grade is 0.3-1.7% and recovery of Co is 70-80%.
