The method involves determining a current oxygen storage capacity from an actual load of oxygen storage and from a relative change of the load. The actual load of the storage is balanced. The relative change of the load is determined with the change of voltage signals of a binary exhaust gas oxygen sensor caused by entry or discharge of oxygen, where the sensor is downstream of an exhaust-gas catalytic converter. An independent claim is also included for a diagnosis of an oxygen storage capacity of an exhaust-gas catalytic converter. |
