PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain knocking, when the knocking is frequently caused. SOLUTION: An engine ECU executes a program including a step (S200) of calculating a strength value LOG(V) from strength V detected by using a knock sensor, a step (S202) of calculating a central value V(50) and a standard deviationσon the calculated strength value LOG(V), a step (S204) of calculating a knock determining level V(KD) being a value of adding the product of the standard deviationσand a factor U(3) to the central value V(50), and a step (S218) of reducing a determining value V(KX) when the knock determining level V(KD) is larger than the product of the determining value V(KX) and a factor K (YES in S206).
