PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an addition compound suitable as a dispersant and a dispersion stabilizer, and a salt of the addition compound; a preparation method of these addition compounds; and a powdery or fibrous solid coated with the dispersant for use as a dispersant or a dispersion stabilizer for organic pigments and inorganic pigments, as a filler in an organic liquid based or aqueous system and as a material to be mixed into a liquid-base. SOLUTION: The addition compound is prepared by reacting (a) one or more polyisocyanate containing an uretdione group with (b) one or more compounds of formula (I); Y-(XH)<SB>n</SB>, with the proviso that at least 50% of the free isocyanate groups of component (a) are reacted with the compound of formula (I) to give an intermediate which contains uretdione groups, and subsequently the intermediate is reacted with (c) one or more compounds of the general formula (II), Z-NHR<SB>m</SB>with the proviso that all free NCO groups still present and at least 20% of uretdione groups to be originally used are reacted with Z-NHR<SB>m</SB>.
