SOLUTION: The iron cover 1 for the manhole comprises a plurality of recessed parts 3 ... 11 (3b) formed at the upper face of an iron cover body 2, and display members 13 ... 21 blocking the openings of the recessed parts 3 ... 11 (3b) and formed of metal plates bent in approximately U-shape with figures, characters or symbols 13d displayed on the upper faces. Engaging parts 3h, 3h on one side are formed on the internal wall surface forming the recessed part 3b.
